Nominating petitions available
for 2026 SBM election


Nominating petitions for the 2026 State Bar of Michigan election will be available in the Michigan Bar Journal and posted on the State Bar website in March.

Candidates will be required to submit nominating petitions to the State Bar of Michigan between Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 30.

Ballots will be emailed to all active members before May 22 and must be completed and returned by June 15.

Law school schedules Henning lecture


Wayne State University Law School will present the Annual Peter J. Henning Memorial Lecture on Monday Feb. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wayne Law’s Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium in Detroit.

Jerold Israel, Alene and Allan F. Smith Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan Law School, will deliver the lecture. 

The annual lecture honors Prof. Henning (1956-2022), a teacher, legal scholar, mentor, colleague and friend.
