Jury convicts Clinton Township man of killing his girlfriend, the mother of his child

A Macomb County jury late last week jury convicted Jaion Barnes, a 25-year-old man from Clinton Township, on all counts, including second-degree murder.
The woman he killed, Tianna Ross, was his girlfriend and the mother of his child.

Barnes was convicted of the following offenses:

Homicide – Murder – Second Degree, a life or any term of years felony

Weapons – Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony consecutive to main charge

Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Felon, a 5-year felony

Domestic Violence – Second Offense Notice, a 1-year misdemeanor

Barnes also has a Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense Notice, which requires a mandatory 25-year sentence.

In January 2024, 23-year-old Tianna Ross arrived at Barnes’s residence to deliver their child to him. He shot her multiple times and fled. He later turned himself in to the authorities.

Barnes remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail facing sentencing March 25.
