Climax-Scotts High School Dean of Students, varsity football coach, and Athletic Director Tyler Langs, who has been on paid administrative leave since October 24, will be returning as dean of students according to the C-S School District.

A statement posted by the C-S School district Monday on the school district’s website reads:

“With the support of administration and the board of education, we have directed Mr. Tyler Langs to return as the dean of students, starting Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Mr. Langs is still on leave from the coaching and athletic director position.”

The School District also included a statement regarding the school district’s statement that was read in the public at the January 19, 2026 school board meeting.

“The Board read a statement at the Board meeting on January 19, 2026. After discussions with Tyler Langs the District is clarifying the statement made. During the District’s investigation, Tyler Langs was given the option to either meet with the investigator or provide his response to questions posed by the investigator. Tyler Langs elected to respond in writing. Tyler Langs responded within the timeline provided by the investigator.”

While the school district has still not made a statement on the varsity football coaching and athletic director positions, Langs said he’s happy to be returning in the dean of students role.

“We’ve said it before, with our four kids, my wife works in the elementary, we love C-S. It’s a relief to be back in the school, to be back in there as dean of students and to serve the community. We’re excited to get back in there with the kids and get after it,” said Langs.

Langs, who was inducted into the C-S Community Schools Hall of Fame February 13, said he was moved by the number of students who approached him that night and shared with him they hoped he would return soon.

“I had just a ton of kids come up to me and say how much they missed me and they just want me to be back in school. So that was a pretty cool experience. Not just the Hall of Fame, but getting to see all the kids. It’s good to see those supporters and loved by the kids, so it was a positive,” adds Langs.

Langs was placed on paid administrative leave according to the school district’s superintendent for complaints regarding the current football coach. During the investigation Langs remained on paid administrative leave from his employment within the district in all capacities.

A special investigation conducted by an attorney from the law firm that represents the school district, Thrun Law Firm PC, took place but there was no conclusion that led to a final determination.

The School District cancelled the February 16 regular board meeting but notes on the school district’s website the meeting will be rescheduled later in February.
