Illinois man extradited and arraigned, charged with multiple felonies including felony murder

Macomb County authorities say 36-year-old Jourdan Armstrong, of Joliet, IL, was arraigned on multiple felony charges including two counts of felony murder after being extradited from Texas.

It is alleged that on December 27, 2024, Armstrong planned and committed an armed robbery at a house in Warren where marijuana was sold. During the robbery, two men were killed: Trey Bennett, 24-years-old, and Andrew McHenry, 36-years-old, both of Newark, OH. Armstrong escaped the scene.

Armstrong’s identity was discovered and he was identified as the man who orchestrated the drug deal and initially pulled the gun during the robbery.

Armstrong was eventually taken into custody in Texas based on outstanding warrants. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office successfully extradited Armstrong back to Michigan, resulting in his arraignment.

Armstrong was arraigned last week on the following offenses:

Two counts – Homicide – Felony Murder, a felony punishable by life without parole

Robbery Armed, a felony punishable by life or any term of years

Conspiracy to Commit Robbery – Armed, a felony punishable by life or any term of years

Assault with Intent to Murder - a felony punishable by life or any term of years

Weapons Felony Firearm, a 2-year felony, consecutive to main charge

Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Prohibited Person, a 5-year felony

Armstrong remains jailed awaiting a probable cause conference in 37th District Court on March 3.
