Attorney and past president of Macomb Bar to seek open seat on 39th District Court
Dana Freers, a longtime local attorney and community volunteer, will seek election to an open seat on the 39th District Court (Roseville and Fraser) in this November’s General Election. Judge Joseph F. Boedeker is not able to seek re-election, causing the vacancy.
Freers, 47, has practiced law in the Fraser/Roseville area for the past 21 years, specializing in the problems of individuals and local businesses, from criminal and civil cases to family and probate matters. In addition, she serves on the Character and Fitness Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, and is a past president of the Macomb County Bar Association.
Freers has an extensive history of community service, including as a member of the Macomb County Community Mental Health Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of the Eastside Community Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Fraser First Booster Club and the Fraser Lions, as well as the Fraser Goodfellows. She is the longest serving president of the Roseville Optimist Club, heading the organization from 2018-23.
“I’ve served my community for many years,” said Freers. “Both as a lawyer, working for my neighbors, and as a charity and civic volunteer. I look forward to working for my neighbors in a new way, should I be elected as our new judge.”
Freers is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Michigan State University College of Law. She is the mother of four children and has been married for 21 years.
The Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Michigan will present the “Young Lawyers Summit” on Friday March 27, at Lovett Hall at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.
The summit brings together legal professionals from across the state for a day of education, networking, and professional development. Attendees include young lawyers, law students, and other legal professionals who are looking to expand their knowledge and connect with others in the field.
