Several state parks in southern Michigan will host stewardship workdays, where volunteers are needed to help remove invasive plants that threaten high-quality ecosystems.
At Fort Custer Recreation Area (Kalamazoo County), a workday is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 14.
Those interested will meet at Eagle Lake parking lot (south lot) to help remove woody invasive species from one of the prairie restoration areas. Volunteers will learn to identify shrubs before cutting them down. All equipment will be provided.
Long pants, long-sleeve shirts, and closed-toed shoes are highly recommended.
Register by emailing Tyler Lidgard at LidgardT@Michigan.gov.
