ABA spring conference to explore legal foundations and protections of democracy

The 2026 SLTG and JD Spring Conference: Defending Democracy and Strengthening Justice will be held April 30-May 2 at the State Bar of Georgia in Atlanta.

The conference is an opportunity for judges, public officials, lawyers, scholars and students to assess the process of how the law defends democracy, protects public officials and advances equity for all communities.

The two-day conference is designed to allow participants to explore the legal foundations and protections of democracy in a rapidly changing world.

Among the sessions are:

“Protecting Democracy’s Guardians: Addressing Threats to Public Servants and Upholding the Rule of Law,” at Troutman Pepper Locke LLP

“The Evolutionary Role of Courts in Election Law Cases”

“Who Can Settle? Authority and Process in Government Litigation Settlements”

“State Constitutions as Guardians of Justice: Advancing Equity for Marginalized Communities”

“One Toke Over the Line: A Legal ‘Pot Pourri’ of Issues Related to Marijuana and Driving”
