G-A tennis team falls to Bridgman


Four days after winning its first match of the season, the Galesburg-Augusta girls tennis team could not secure a second straight win, falling to Bridgman 8-0 April 14 at Bridgman.

Maria Lockner and Celine Andersen, lost a very competitive match at No. 2 doubles, 6-6 (10), 6-4.

The scheduled match against Bronson April 16 that was postponed will be made up May 12 at 4:30 at G-A.

Baseball team drops extra
inning game to Delton-Kellogg


A late rally by Delton-Kellogg forced extra innings and the Panthers went on to defeat the Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball team with a run in the bottom of the ninth inning in an 8-7 victory over G-A April 14 at Delton.

The Rams, now 4-3, were trailing the Panthers 4-2 in the bottom of the third inning in the second game when the contest was stopped.

The Rams entered the bottom of the seventh inning in the opening contest with a 6-0 lead but the home team forced extra innings by pushing six runs across in the frame.

A walk and hit batter put runners on first and second with no outs for Delton-Kellogg in the bottom of the ninth inning. A single to centerfield scored the winning run.

Kameron Prince suffered the loss, allowing four hits, two earned runs and one walk to go with one strikeout.

JV baseball team begins season 2-0


The Galesburg-Augusta JV baseball team began the season with a 2-0 record by sweeping Delton-Kellogg 12-3 in both games of a doubleheader April 17 at G-A High School.

Ayden Maine and Coleson Blake teamed up for a one-hitter in the first game and Zach Herring had two hits and drove in three runs to lead G-A in the second game.

Maine pitched three and two-thirds scoreless innings to earn the win, He allowed one hit, three walks and struck out six batters.

Blake pitched the final one and one-third innings and did not yield a hit. He walked three and struck out three batters.

Colton Robertson, who had a double, had two hits.

The Rams took advantage of four Delton errors that led to seven unearned runs in the second game.

Herring had two. hits including a double and drove in three runs to lead G-A at the plate.

Colton Robertson scattered four hits across four innings to earn the win. He gave up two earned runs, walked three batters and struck out three.

G-A track teams fall twice;
girls finish 2nd at invite


Both the Galesburg-Augusta boys and girls track teams lost twice in a home meet against Constantine and Delton-Kellogg April 20.

Constantine topped the G-A boys 98-12 and Delton-Kellogg defeated the Rams 96-14.

Delton-Kellogg downed Constantine 60-50 in the other men’s score.

Constantine defeated the G-A girls 75-26 and Delton-Kellogg defeated the G-A girls 60.75-47.25.

Constantine defeated Delton-Kellogg 78-31 in the other girls meet.

Jenisyn Klimp, with a time of 13.1 in the 100-meter dash, and 27.7 in the 200-meters, earned G-A’s only first place finishes in the girls race.

G-A also had two second place finishes in the relay events and one second place finish in the high jump. 

The 4x200-meter relay team of Kayla Bortolussi, Ellesa Callender, Brooklyn James and Klimp finished second with a time of 1:55.8 and the 4x400-meter relay team comprised of Klimp, James, 
Bortolussi and Callender finished second with a time of 4:43.9.

Bortolussi finished second in the high jump with a leap of 4’6”.

Patrick Armock enjoyed one first place finish and one second place finish to lead the boys.

The Ram junior won the high jump competition with a personal best leap of 5’10” and placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.2, just four-tenths of a second behind the winner.

Lady Rams Finish 2nd at Invite


Six first place finishes helped the Galesburg-Augusta girls track team to a second place finish at the 8-team Comstock Invitational April 17.

The boys finished eighth out of eight teams.

Jenisyn Klimp placed first in two events and helped a relay team to a first place finish and Audrey Dennis placed first in two events to lead G-A.

Klimp won the 100-meter dash (13.72) and 200-meter dash (27.89).

The G-A sophomore joined Kayla Bortolussi, Ellesa Callender and Brooklyn James in a first place effort in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:56.63.

Dennis won the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 18.90 and the 300-meter hurdles with a season best time of 58.27.

The other first place finish came from sophomore Kayla Bortolussi, who won the long jump with a season best distance of 15’00”.

A second place finish by junior Patrick Armock in the 110-meter hurdles (16.68) was G-A’s highest finish in the boys event.

Armock also placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 121’06”.

 The track meet at Martin with Kalamazoo Christian and the host school that was postponed April 15 has been rescheduled for April 27 at Martin at 4:30 p.m.

Rally gives Lady Rams split


A four-run rally in the top of the seventh inning lifted the Galesburg-Augusta girls varsity softball team to a 11-10 win and a split of a doubleheader with Fennville April 17 on the road.

G-A, now 3-8, suffered a 16-6 loss in the first game.

Sienna Owens’ two-run single to center field broke a 9-9 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning and G-A held on for the win in the second game.

Brooklyn Krontz stole home to knot the game 9-9.

Kaylin Wetzel earned the win, pitching seven innings, while giving up just two hits and two earned runs. She walked one batter and struck out eight.

Owens finished with two hits and Caitlyn Valadez hit a home run.

Fennville took advantage of 14 G-A errors that led to 14 unearned runs in a 16-6 win over the Rams in the first game.

Owens, who had a double, had two hits in the loss.

Kaylee Bastian suffered the loss, allowing five hits and one earned run with four walks and four strikeouts across four innings.

Rams Split with Delton-Kellogg


The Rams held off a late rally to secure a 9-6 win in the first game of a doubleheader with Delton-Kellogg April 14 at Delton-Kellogg.

The Panthers defeated G-A 17-2 in the second game.

G-A took a 8-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning in the opener before the home team rallied for three runs to pull to within 8-6.

A single by Kaylin Wetzel in the top of the seventh gave G-A an insurance run.

Caitlyn Valedez, who had two doubles and drove in three runs, led the Rams at the plate. Ava Schelb also had two hits and drove in one run.

 Kaylee Bastian earned the win on the mound, scattering six hits across seven innings. She gave up three earned runs and five walks, but struck out 12 Panthers.

G-A only managed two hits and committed 10 errors that led to 15 unearned runs in the second game.Caitlyn Valadez had two of G-A’s three hits.

Kaylin Wetzel started and suffered the loss. She allowed nine hits, two earned runs and four walks to go with six strikeouts across three and one-third innings pitched.
