Clinton Township man arraigned on operating while intoxicated causing death charge

Macomb County authorities say 50-year-old Curtis Eason of Clinton Township was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death in connection with a fatal pedestrian incident.

It is alleged that on Friday, March 27, while driving westbound on Elizabeth Road approaching Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township, Eason entered a turn lane prematurely and struck a pedestrian, identified as Michael O’Brien, 34, of Mount Clemens.

Personnel from Clinton Township Fire Department and Medstar Ambulance rendered lifesaving aid at the scene.

The victim was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. It is further alleged that Eason was legally intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Eason was arraigned before Magistrate Ryan Zemke in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township.

Zemke set Eason’s bond at $100,000 cash/surety/10%. If released, he must wear a GPS alcohol tether.

Eason is scheduled for a probable cause conference before Judge Sebastian Lucido at the 41B District Court on May 19.
