Charge escalated, Sterling Heights man bound over, alleged to have punched dog to death

Macomb County authorities have announced that 31-year-old Fouad Yosif Yaldo, of Sterling Heights, was bound over on an escalated charge of Second-Degree Animal Torture/Killing related to him allegedly punching and killing his then-girlfriend’s dog.

It is alleged that on November 6, 2025, Yaldo picked up his then-girlfriend’s 8-year-old Yorkie named “Teddy,” then struck Teddy at least twice with great force and put the dog on the ground.

When Yaldo saw that Teddy was not moving, Yaldo picked the dog up and carried him to his then-girlfriend, who was in another room. The dog died in her arms. Yaldo’s actions were caught on video.

Last Thursday, Yaldo’s preliminary exam was held before Judge Annemarie Lepore in the 41A District Court in Sterling Heights.

At the exam, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Justin Pollard argued that the charge of Animals – Killing/Torturing – Third Degree, a 4-year felony, should be escalated to Animals – Killing/Torturing – Second Degree, a 7-year felony.

Lepore agreed and bound Yaldo over on the amended charge. This is the maximum charge available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.

At the exam, defense counsel moved to reduce Yaldo’s $75,000 cash/surety bond. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Pollard opposed the request, and Lepore denied the motion.

Yaldo remains lodged in the Macomb County Jail. If released on bond, he will be required to wear a steel-cuff tether and will be prohibited from having contact with animals.

Yaldo is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Jennifer M. Faunce in the Macomb County Circuit Court on Monday, June 22.
