ADTC schedules annual golf outing


The Association of Defense Trial Counsel is holding its Annual Golf Outing for Monday, June 1, at Western Golf & Country Club in Redford Township.

The outing will begin at 8 a.m. with registration followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start with lunch to follow.

Cost is $200 per golfer and the complete package consists of 18 holes of golf on a Donald Ross-designed course in a private club setting, refreshments on the course, and lunch. 

 Prizes and awards will be presented after the scramble.  Collared shirt and rubber spikes or spikeless shoes are required.

Voting now open for 2026 SBM elections


Attorneys can now cast their votes in the 2026 State Bar Elections. Each Michigan attorney has been emailed a link to their personalized ballot. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, June 15.
The election includes races for the Judicial Tenure Commission as well as the Board of Commissioners District H (Lenawee, Monroe and Wayne counties) and District I (Oakland County).
Ballots have been emailed from sbmelection@electionservicecorp.com with the subject, “Vote Now in the 2026 State Bar of Michigan Election – E-Ballot Enclosed.” 
Those who did not receive a ballot should check their spam folder and make sure they  are checking the email account currently on file with the State Bar.

Foundation conducts forum
on business tax strategies


The Community Foundation of Greater Rochester will present a Foundation Forum on “Business Tax Strategies: Smart Planning for Business Owners” Tuesday, June 9, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rochester Hills Public Library in Rochester.

Speaking at the event will be David Wakefield, an attorney with Wakefield Law PC. He specializes in estate planning, business planning, and post-death administrations.  

Also speaking will be David Blake, a financial and private wealth advisor with Raymond James financial firm. 

The two will cover several topics including offsetting capital gains, tax-loss harvesting, charitable planning, estate taxes, and donor advised funds.
