Lady Rams no-hit in district opener


The Galesburg-Augusta varsity softball team could not overcome a large first inning deficit and 13 errors in a 16-0, four inning loss to Kalamazoo Christian May 30 at Lawton in a district semifinal game.

G-A completes the season with a 10-22 record.

The Comets started the game with a 12-run first inning.

While G-A’s Kaylin Wetzel started the Ram first by reaching first base when she was hit by a pitch, the Rams failed to generate a hit the entire game, with the next 12 batters being retired.

Wetzel suffered the loss on the mound.

Three Rams compete at MHSAA state finals


Three members of the Galesburg-Augusta track team competed in four events, but all three were unable to secure a top eight spot for an all-state medal at the Division 3 MHSAA State Finals May 30 at Kent City High School.

Junior Patrick Armock finished 18th in the discus competition with a throw of 130’11.

He also qualified in the 110-meter hurdles but did not advance out of the preliminaries where he finished in 17th place with a time of 15.53.

G-A sophomore Jenisyn Klimp finished 21st in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:02.51.

G-A junior Ellesa Callender competed in the discus competition, finishing with a throw of 101’8” in 23rd place.

Rams swept in regular season finale


The Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball team finished the regular season with a pair of losses to Battle Creek Pennfield May 26 at G-A High School.

The two losses sent the Rams into the district tournament with a 12-11 record.

G-A struggled at the plate and in the field in both games.

The Rams managed just three hits and committed two errors that led to seven unearned runs in a 15-3 setback in the first game.

The Rams had seven miscues in the field in the second game that led to 11 unearned runs and had just one hit in a 18-0 loss in the second game.

A double by Alex Krugh, who had one RBI, and singles by Nate Ewert and Jonah Ranes accounted for G-A’s three hits in the first game.

Starter Nate Ewert suffered the loss on the mound.

A single in the bottom of the third inning was the lone hit G-A managed in the second game.

Kameron Prince was tagged with the loss in the second game.

G-A baseball team drops district opener


The Galesburg-Augusta varsity baseball team saw its season end with a 13-0, six inning loss to Kalamazoo Christian May 30 in the district semifinal game at Kalamazoo Christian.

The Rams complete the season with a 12-12 record.

The game was close until the fifth inning when Kalamazoo Christian extended a 3-0 lead to 7-0.

The Comets piled on with six more runs in the sixth inning.

Three G-A errors led to eight unearned runs.

G-A struggled at the plate, managing just three hits. Alex Krugh and Kameron Prince each had a double and Ayden Maine collected one hit.

Krugh started and suffered the loss on the mound. He pitched the first five innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs and one walk with eight strikeouts.
