2011 G-A Graduate Begins Career Ambitions At Michigan State Police Training Academy

As a member of the Galesburg-Charleston Township Fire Department the last five years, Greg Nichols has interacted and worked along side law enforcement officers on various calls to gain a pretty good understanding what their job entails.

Nichols, a 2011 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School, said it was shortly after he graduated from an EMT program at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and joined the Galesburg-Charleston Fire Department, he had an opportunity to observe the law enforcement side first hand. He soon developed a passion to get into the field after the local fire department put him through the Fire Academy.

Nichols started a career ambition of becoming a Michigan State Police trooper Monday when he began a rigorous 22-week course at the 130th Michigan State Police Training Academy in Lansing.

Climax Ball News

The Climax Independents played a good game of ball Sunday against the Bamby Bread Co. Battle Creek who substituted for Taylor Produce who on account of sickness were unable to come.

Seven innings was played the score being 6 to 1. The game was held up for 20 minutes on account of the funeral of Ed. Pilgrim, the diamond being close to the cemetery.

It looks like Climax would develope a real team before long. Force pitched the 7 innings and only one score was made. He got himself in a bad hole in the first, three of the bread men being on bases and one out. He whiffed the next two men retiring the side. Harrison was catching and it looks as it he would make a good one. His peg to second was accurate. With a little hitting practice this team will sure improve wonderfully. Next Sunday Climax plays Standard Oil of Battle Creek. This should be a good game The game starts at 3:00 fast time. Admission 25c.
