The Third Annual Kalamazoo River Cleanup will take place Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to noon across various locations. A free after-party celebration will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at Mayors Riverfront Park.
The Kalamazoo River Cleanup is a community-driven effort aimed at removing debris and trash from the water, banks and trails along the Kalamazoo River, focused on parks and waterways in Kalamazoo, Comstock, and Parchment. Everyone can help: families, avid river paddlers and fishermen, and people who love to wade in creeks.
When residents participate in a cleanup event around a body of water, they are making the water safer for everyone. The Kalamazoo River and surrounding watersheds eventually reach Lake Michigan, one of the largest freshwater resources in the world.
All ages are welcome to participate in this family-friendly event. For younger kids the “walking on shore” choice is the best option for safety.
