Royal Throne Chair Carved Out Of Tree Stump Completed In Front Of Scotts Country Store
A tree stump that was carved into the shape of a chair a while back in front of the Scotts Country Store, has taken on the look of a royal throne after a chain saw artist completed his work on it recently.
Shortly after the large American Elm tree was removed a few years ago, Country Store owner Robert Beardsley said David Pryor used a chain saw to turn the tree stump into a large wooden chair.
Beardsley recently hired Pete Leverentz of Three Rivers to make the chair into a fluffy looking throne emerging out of the wood.

from the June 22, 2001 Climax CrescentC-S School Board Signs 1-Year Extension With Laidlaw
The Climax-Scotts School Board carried a motion by a 5-0 margin to extend the transportation contract with Laidlaw Transit by one year. When the district began negotiations with Laidlaw, a 5-year contract was being looked at, but when the two sides could not agree on a multi year pact, a one year extension became the most likely option. C-S Superintendent Dr. Geoffrey Balkam said Laidlaw presented a proposal last week that would save the district an additional $17,750 over what it initially had on the table for the one year extension and then Tuesday afternoon made another offer at a reduction of another $3,850.

Former Climax Resident Is Acting Postmaster At Galesburg Post Office
As a Post Office employee climbs the ladder in the postal service business, one of the drawbacks is there might be a move to an unfamiliar area.
But the latest move as Officer in Charge at the Galesburg Post Office for Ken Taylor, a 1978 graduate of Climax-Scotts High School, was warmly welcomed by the former Climax resident, who also has close ties to Galesburg.
Taylor, the son of Sue and the late Bruce Taylor of Climax, not only attended C-S Community Schools, but he also worked at Taylor Lumber Company for four years when his father owned the local business.
Taylor, the Supervisor of Customer Services in Plainwell before his recent move, has held the acting Postmaster title in Galesburg about two weeks.

from the June 18, 1926 Climax CrescentCLIMAX BALL NEWS
Next Sunday the Athens Indians will play ball at Climax. Don’t miss this. The Athens boys always put up a game with plenty of fun.
Last Sunday the crowd was disappointed by the Standard Oil team not coming. They did not notify the boys they wished to cancel the game and to date do not know why the boys didn’t showup. There may have been some misunderstanding, but a team that just doesn’t come are poor sports and should have a hard job booking games in the future.
Manager McNutt announces that he is very sorry the team did not come and states the tickets given the fans will be good at any game this season played by Climax on their home diamond.
