Webinar looks at debriefing after escalated episodes

The Michigan Judicial Institute will present a “Debriefing and Self-Regulation After Escalated Episodes Webinar” on Monday, July 27 from noon to 1 p.m.

Judicial work carries real costs. Exposure to trauma, high-stakes decisions, heavy dockets, and the expectation of stoicism combine over time to affect wellbeing, judgment, and sustainability. This workshop opens by naming why tending to that reality matters, then moves quickly into practical ground: recognizing vicarious trauma and burnout, and building concrete skills for debriefing and self-regulation after escalated courtroom episodes. The tone throughout is collegial and practical, not clinical.

This webinar is offered in recognition of the United Nation’s International Day on Judicial Well-Being and in partnership with the State Court Administrative Office’s Behavioral Health Administrator.

Speaking at the webinar will be Andrea Smith of A. Smith and Associates.

This webinar is eligible for continuing judicial education (CJE) credit [1.0 Integrity & Demeanor].
