Macomb County authorities have announced that 44-year-old Melissa Ann McGuire of Mount Clemens pleaded no contest to one count of Using a Computer to Commit a Crime, a one-year misdemeanor.
The charge stems from threatening messages McGuire sent through Facebook Messenger to Mount Clemens Mayor Laura Kropp on November 13, 2025.
On Tuesday, McGuire entered her plea during a pretrial conference before Judge Jacob Femminineo, Jr. of the 41B District Court in Clinton Township.
The second charge of Malicious Use of Telecommunication Services, a six-month misdemeanor, was dismissed as part of the resolution.
Kropp was present and in agreement with the plea. The matter was referred for a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
McGuire is scheduled to be sentenced on August 19.
