The Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) recently announced the recipients of the Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Veterans Nonprofit Improvement Grant, awarding more than $3.7 million to veteran service organizations across the state. Locally, the Augusta Custer VFW 7956 will receive $61,945.00.
The Veterans Nonprofit Improvement Grant provides funding to improve and maintain facilities owned and operated by nonprofit veteran service organizations. These facilities serve as important gathering places where veterans connect with one another, access resources and services and strengthen ties within their communities.
“These grants help ensure our veteran service organizations can continue serving as welcoming, accessible spaces for veterans and their families,” said Marie Douville, program manager for the Michigan DMVA. “The organizations receiving these awards play an important role in supporting veterans at the local level, and these facility improvements will help them continue their missions for years to come.”
