Sheriff’s Office investigating vehicle break-ins, auto theft in Springfield

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and the theft of a vehicle that occurred early Saturday morning in the City of Springfield.

At approximately 5:22 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, deputies responded to the 1200 block of Avenue A after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle and multiple vehicle break-ins.

Upon arrival, deputies located the stolen vehicle, which had recently been taken from the area, and began receiving additional reports from residents whose vehicles had been entered and items stolen.

In total, seven vehicles were broken into and one vehicle was stolen.

During the investigation, deputies canvassed the neighborhood and obtained home surveillance footage showing two possible persons of interest.

—Person of Interest 1
• Appears to be a white male with dark facial hair.
• Last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark shorts.

—Person of Interest 2
• Appears to be a male.
• Last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored pants.

The investigation remains active. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing patrols in the area and throughout the City of Springfield. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles, remove keys and key fobs, and avoid leaving valuables inside unattended vehicles.
