Julius J. Hoffman, known to family and friends as Jay, died July 26. A visitation followed by a celebration of life luncheon will be held at 12 p.m. on Sunday, August 9 at The Country Club of Jackson.
Jay graduated from Michigan State University and Wayne State Law School before returning to Jackson, where he practiced law for nearly 50 years.
He served on the Board of Directors of Farmers State Bank for thirty-five years and generously shared his time and leadership with numerous civic organizations, including the Jackson Speech and Hearing Clinic, Ella Sharp Museum, and Goodwill Industries.
Jay, who was born to Julius “Jule” Hoffman and Elaine Hoffman of Jackson, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend whose warmth, integrity, and generosity touched countless lives.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jay will be remembered for his exceptional character, integrity, honesty, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, boating in his beloved Boston Whaler, skiing in his younger years, playing word games, and reading. His life was defined not only by his achievements but by the compassion, wisdom, and quiet generosity he shared with everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Jay is survived by his wife, Suzanne Hoffman; his sons, Jason A. Hoffman (Theresa) of Winter Garden, Fla., and David R. Hoffman (Catharina) of Grand Rapids; his beloved grandchildren, Nolan and Amelia; step-grandchildren, John and Edison Pacifici; sister, Carol Walters (Pete) of Milford; brother, Gary Hoffman (Peggy) of Washington, D.C.; sister-in-law, Kathy Egan of Jackson; brother-in-law, Roy F. “Brownie” Brown (Deb) of Midland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
