Climax-Scotts Community Schools is proud to announce Jennifer Selby as the new Varsity Softball Coach for the Panthers softball program.
A longtime member of the Climax-Scotts school community, Coach Selby brings more than 10 years of experience developing athletes through recreational, Little League, and travel softball programs. Her coaching approach emphasizes strong fundamentals, individual player development, accountability, teamwork, and creating a positive culture in which every student-athlete feels valued and supported.
Since beginning her coaching career in 2015, Selby has served as both a head and assistant softball coach. She has developed practices focused on hitting, pitching, fielding, baserunning, and situational play while working with athletes of varying ages and skill levels.
Throughout her coaching career, she has remained committed to helping athletes build confidence, compete with integrity, and grow both on and off the field.
From 2018 through 2024, Selby served as president of Quad Cities Little League, overseeing a program that served approximately 250 to 300 athletes annually. In that role, she managed coaches, volunteers, scheduling, safety programs, tournaments, coach development, and player-focused programming. She also worked closely with families, volunteers, and community leaders to strengthen local youth athletics.
Selby’s experience provides her with a strong understanding of the importance of connecting youth softball with the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity programs. One of her priorities will be building a consistent developmental pathway that introduces athletes to strong fundamentals at an early age and keeps them engaged throughout their softball careers.
“I’m honored and excited for the opportunity to lead the Climax-Scotts varsity softball program,” said Selby. “My goal is to build a culture where every athlete feels valued, challenged, and supported. I want our program to be known for strong fundamentals, positive relationships, player development, and student-athletes who represent our school and community with pride.”
In addition to her coaching experience, Selby has served as an administrative assistant with Climax-Scotts Community Schools since 2015. Through her work at Climax-Scotts Elementary School, she has built meaningful relationships with students, families, staff, and many of the young athletes who may one day become part of the Panthers softball program.
Climax-Scotts administration is excited to see Coach Selby lead the varsity softball program. Her longstanding commitment to the district, extensive youth coaching and program-leadership experience, and passion for developing student-athletes make her an excellent fit for the position.
