State Bar urges members to
update contact information
All Michigan attorneys are required to keep a current email address and physical address on file with the State Bar of Michigan.
Updating contact information is important as fall approaches so that attorneys receive important updates regarding license renewal, which will open after Labor Day.
To confirm contact information, attorneys should first log into the Member Area at michbar.org/MemberArea. Under the Profile heading, click “Manage” to check and/or edit contact information.

Bench Bar Culinary Challenge scheduled
Grilling for Good returns with the 17th Annual Bench Bar Culinary Challenge which will take place Thursday, Sept. 17, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the home of retired Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Kirsten Frank Kelly.
This charitable event features a friendly cook-off between teams from the bench and bar. All proceeds benefit Alternatives for Girls and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation’s scholarship fund.
This year, the teams consist of:
• Grilled from the Bench—Michigan Court of Appeals Judges Mariam Saad Bazzi and Christopher Trebilcock; Oakland County 46th District Court Judge Cynthia Arvant and Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Jennifer Callaghan; and Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Tanya Grillo and Oakland County 52-3 District Court Judge Laura Polizzi.
• Grilled by the Hour—Reine Hamdar of MacDonald Hopkins and Fadel Nabilsi of HNH Law Group; Kristopher Hulliberger and Daniel Chojnowski of Howard and Howard; and Deb Lapin and Mike Hamblin of Maddin Hauser.
Tickets are $100 per person and include food, wine, and beer. Pre-regis

Notice
The Michigan Court of Appeals will permanently close its Clerk’s Office location in the Columbia Center in Troy, effective Aug. 31.
The staff handling the cases arising out of the court’s Second District will merge with the clerk’s office facility located at Cadillac Place in Detroit at 3020 West Grand Blvd.
The Detroit office will thereafter handle the combined cases from the court’s First and Second Districts.
Reducing the court’s footprint in this way will improve operational efficiency while saving the state over $450,000 each year in leasing costs, according to the court.
