Schoolcraft takes G-A in three games
The Galesburg-Augusta varsity volleyball team dropped a match to Schoolcraft in three sets September 3 at G-A High School, 11-25, 12-25, 18-25.

“Schoolcraft was a tough team and showed us our areas of weakness. We will pivot and move forward,” said Ram coach Jonica Klimp.

G-A JV football team falls to Plainwell
The Galesburg-Augusta JV football team dropped a 22-18 decision to Plainwell September 2 at Maskill Field to even its record at 1-1.
Donnie Tiffany scored two rushing touchdowns and Colsen Blake scored one touchdown on a pass reception.
Gabe Smith had a fumble recovery and Breckin Vickery had an interception.
After a bye week September 10 the Rams will play a road game at Comstock September 17.

Rams swat Bees 44-3 for 2-0 start

Last Thursday Galesburg-Augusta traveled to Bath, Mi. to do battle with the Bees and prevailed 44-3.
The win gives G-A a 2-0 start, the first time the Rams have won their first two games of a new season since 2016.
The Rams took the opening kickoff and drove 67 yards in 11 plays, all on the ground, with Patrick Armock’s 1 yard sneak putting G-A on the board midway through the first quarter. Greg Buckner ran for the two point conversion and the Rams were up 8-0.
The Bees’ first possession featured 3 rushing plays for a total of 1 negative yard gained. They did complete 3 passes for 23 yards but fell 1 yard short on a fourth and ten play and the ball turned over to G-A at its own 35 yard line.
The Rams drove down to the Bath 16 yard line where the drive stalled, giving the ball back to the Bees.
Bath responded with a 73 yard drive but on another fourth down play had a pass intercepted by Armock at the G-A 11.
On the very first play Armock connected with Cayden Allie on a pass over the middle.
Allie finished the play racing 89 yards for G-A’s second score of the night. Ronald Kasten and Giovanni Evans collaborated on a pass for the points after giving the Rams a 16-0 lead 3:52 to play in the half.
Bath’s next possession lasted just three plays When Allie recovered a fumble at the Bees’ 29 yard line. Buckner ran for 26 yards and Colton Robertson the last 3 for another Ram score. Armock scrambled and found Alex Krugh open in the end zone for the points after and a 24-0 lead.
Bath returned the ensuing kickoff to mid field, the Rams gifted them with 20 more yards on penalties, and two pass completions that gave the Bees a first down at the G-A 8 yard line. With just 1 second on the clock Bath called on Emily Snyder and she responded with a 27 yard field goal on the final play of the first half.
G-A forced a three and out on Bath’s first drive of the second half. The Ram drive ended with a lost fumble at the Bees 45 yard line.
The Bees in turn fumbled the ball back to the Rams two plays later with Tristan Jackson falling on the ball at the Bath 45 yard line.
On the very next play Evans raced around the left end covering the entire 45 yards for a G-A score. Armock passed to Allie for the two points giving G-A a 32-3 lead half way through the third quarter.
Bath’s next possession ended with the Bees giving the ball back to the Rams on downs at the 50 yard line.
G-A needed just one play with Kasten racing the 50 yards for another Ram touchdown. The two-point conversion run attempt failed and the score was now 38-3 with 3:35 to play in the third quarter.
The Ram defense forced the Bees to punt giving G-A the ball at its own 30 yard line.
After three running plays and a penalty the Rams were facing a fourth and 9 to go at the 31 yard line.
Kasten was now running the offense and he dropped back to pass. Two Ram receivers were open and it was Allie that again hauled in the pass and raced down field. Three Bee defenders had a shot at taking him down but Allie would not be denied. He fought off the defenders and ended up in the end zone for a 69 yard score.
The attempted kick for the point after try sailed right but the Rams were content with the 44-3 win.
The G-A ground game saw Evans rush for 92 yards with Buckner (58 yards) and Kasten (47) leading the Rams to 222 yards rushing.
Armock was 6 of 9 passing for 127 yards and Kasten went 2 for 2 for 72 yards. Allie caught 4 passes for 176 of the teams 199 yards total.
The defense for G-A (2-0) was led by Colton Robertson’s 11 tackles. Alex Krugh and Ronald Kasten each had 8 tackles and Milo Schwendinger and Luke Dennis chipped in with 6.
G-A will play its third consecutive away game against Hartford (2-0) on September 11.
