On September 15 at approximately 10 p.m., Kalamazoo County Central Dispatch received a 911 report of a car vs. bicyclist accident which occurred on W. Michigan Ave near S. Grant St in the City of Galesburg.
First responders were dispatched and upon arrival, located an injured female who was quickly transported by EMS to a local hospital, where she was listed as recovering from her injuries. The driver fled the scene, however the vehicle’s make and model were described by witnesses. Another witness was able to provide the license plate.
This information was shared with partner police agencies, and the vehicle was located in the City of Kalamazoo.
A person of interest was taken into custody and there is no threat to the public.
Both speed and alcohol are believed to be factors according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department.
