MCBA marks birthday,
installs new officers


The Macomb County Bar Association’s 120th Birthday Bash and Presidential Installation is set for Wednesday, Oct 14 at the Anton Art Center in Mt. Clemens.

The event will feature a strolling dinner, signature cocktails and music along with the presentation of awards.

The evening will begin with a 5 p.m. reception with the program scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The costs is $75 per person.

ACC program looks at Generative AI


The Association of Corporate Counsel Michigan Chapter and sponsor FTI Consulting will present “Getting Practical with Gen AI” on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Ocean Prime Detroit-Troy in Troy.

This one-hour presentation explores the practical applications of Generative AI in the legal field, including its potential use in investigations, compliance reviews, discovery and trial preparations.

Speaker Thomas Barce, managing director at FTI Consulting, will cover key topics such as AI vs Generative AI, ethical obligations, and the evolution of AI technologies, while providing demonstrations that compare results from different large language models to enhance audience insights. 

Attendees will explore topics like conducting timely case assessments, evaluating relevance, policy compliance review, identifying personally identifiable information, and identifying privileged documents.  

Attendees will leave with an understanding of the practical opportunities available using Gen AI, potential hazards, and measures to mitigate the risks.

Business Partner Expo hosted by ALA


The Metropolitan Detroit Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators is gearing up for its 2026 Business Partner Expo.  

The “The Nightmare Before Christmas”-themed event will take place Thursday, Oct. 22, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Detroit Fleat in Ferndale.

ALA’s biggest event of the year is filled with food, drinks and raffles.  Business partners are free to get creative and decorate tables in the theme of “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” 

Dressing up is encouraged, but certainly not mandatory. 

ALA?members and business partners can attend for free.  Guests may attend for $35.
