Nomination of Behm heads to full U.S. Senate for confirmation
Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters last Friday applauded the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee for advancing the nomination of Judge F. Kay Behm by a bipartisan vote. Judge Behm was nominated to be U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. Her nomination now heads to the full Senate for confirmation.

“Judge Behm has been a thoughtful public servant for Genesee County at the 7th Circuit Court. I have no doubt that she will continue to serve the people of Michigan well on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Judge Behm represents the best of Michigan, and I am confident she is ready and prepared to serve the people of Michigan on the federal bench,” said Stabenow.
“Judge Behm is a highly-qualified jurist whose extensive legal experience and dedication to public service will serve our state and nation well,” said Peters. “I have every confidence in Judge Behm’s abilities and look forward to seeing her serve on the federal bench once she is confirmed.”
On June 29, President Biden nominated Behm to serve as U.S. District Court judge for the Eastern District.
Behm has served as a judge for the Genesee County Circuit and Probate Courts since 2009. She was previously a solo practitioner from 2008 to 2009. From 1997 to 2008, Behm was an associate at Winegarden, Haley, Lindholm, & Robertson in Flint and an associate at Braun, Kendrick, Finbeiner in Saginaw from 1994 to 1997. Behm received her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1994 and her B.A. from Albion College in 1991.
Environmental Law Section plans Annual Program and Meeting
The Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct its Annual Program and Meeting on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Dykema, 201 Townsend Street, Suite 900, in Lansing.
The Annual Program will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. featuring speaker Sarah Grace, project manager at Environmental Council of the States (ECOS). Grace is responsible for coordinating PFAS initiatives with all 50 states.
The ELS Annual Meeting will be conducted from 4:30 to 5 p.m. The annual meeting will also be available online. A happy hour will close the day from 5 to 7 p.m. at Midtown Brewing Co., 402 S. Washington Square in Lansing.
