The Oakland County Bar Association will host the 37th edition of the Race Judicata on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Covington Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
The three-pronged event will feature 5-kilometer and 10-km runs, along with a 5-km walk.
The 10-km run begins at 9 a.m., and the 5-km run/walk will start at 9:30 at Covington. Registration and T-shirt pick up will begin at 8 a.m.
Organizers are encouraging area law firms to enter three-runner teams in the 5-km and 10-km races. Traveling trophies will be awarded to the top team in each race.
Last year, the Jaffe Law White Team won the 5-km title with a combined time of 1:09:25. Team members were Marko Belej, Aaron Sherbin, and David Williams. Capturing the 10-km team title was the Bodman White Team of Jason Gourley, Erica Shell, Anthony Finn, and Sam Raphelson.
As is customary, the event is open to all comers, whether or not they know the difference between “res” and “race.” The Race Judicata, of course, is a play on words with the Latin term “res judicata,” which is short for a “matter judged.”
Registration is available online at www.ocba.org. Race day registration also is offered, costing $30 for runners and $20 for walkers.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Frank C. Perez Youth Fund.
