The Federal Bar Association (FBA), Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, recently hosted the 2019 Leonard R. Gilman Award Luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Detroit Downtown Riverfront. Kenneth Mogill (fourth from right) of Mogill, Posner, &?Cohen was this year’s Leonard R. Gilman Award recipient. Happy to congratulate Mogill were (left to right) retired Judge Fred Mester, State Bar of Michigan President Jennifer Grieco, FBA Immediate Past President Jeffrey Appel, Maureen Shaughnessy, FBA Secretary-Treasurer Dan Sharkey, guest speaker U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider, FBA Program Chair Jennifer Newby and FBA President Saura Sahu. Since 2002, Mogill has been an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School. He has argued three times in the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as many other times in the Sixth Circuit, the Michigan Supreme Court and other appellate courts. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a fellow of the Michigan Bar Foundation. Mogill is president of the board of directors of the Michigan Campaign for Justice and a past president of Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan. The Gilman Award is given annually to an outstanding practitioner of criminal law who exemplifies the excellence, professionalism and commitment to public service of Len Gilman who was U.S. attorney at the time of his death in 1985.
