Seminar to focus on social media in promotions and marketing
The State Bar of Michigan General Practice-Solo and Small Firm Section will host a luncheon seminar called "Marketing Secrets and How to Use Social Networking to Increase Your Practice," from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at Ginopolis on the Grill, located at 27815 Middlebelt Road in Farmington Hills.
Two speakers will address how to get and keep good clients and how to target marketing on social media and in other ways that reach individuals and companies.
* Julie I. Fershtman left a large law firm in 1993 to start her own practice, where she hoped to represent major insurance companies and small businesses. She hoped to become involved with people in the equine industry to satisfy her life-long passion for horses. Well known marketing guru Jay Foonberg told her she would starve. Undaunted, she persevered and flourished. She is now known as the premier expert on equine law in Michigan and across the country. She is now a shareholder with Foster Swift Collins & Smith in Farmington Hills, and president-elect of the State Bar.
* Priya M. Doornbos began her practice as a corporate and securities attorney with large law firms in Michigan and Colorado. In 2009, she started PMD Legal with a focus was on serving the business and legal needs of start-ups, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofits as a virtual general counsel. In addition to the traditional practice of law, she counsels businesses and individuals on the legal issues in using social media and the importance of social media policies and advises attorneys on the ethics issues in using social media. She teaches media law to undergraduate students at Lawrence Tech University. She is currently in-house corporate counsel with a bio-pharmaceutical company.
The cost of the luncheon seminar is $25 for section members and $30 for others in advance, or $35 at the door. Register online at www.michbar.org/general/calendar.cfm. For more information on the seminar, contact Elizabeth A. Silverman at elizabethasilverman@gmail.com.
