LANSING (AP) — Michigan State Police are working with a nonprofit trucking organization to fight human trafficking.
The state police’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division has joined with Truckers Against Trafficking to educate and mobilize truckers and travel plaza workers.
Division commander Capt. Michael Krumm said truckers are the “eyes and ears of the nation’s highways,” and the campaign encourages them to report suspicious activity to the National Human
Trafficking Resource Center.
The effort launched this month includes providing training to all state police motor carrier officers, working with truck stop managers, and distributing materials to drivers, carriers and travel plaza managers.
Truckers Against Trafficking posters also will be placed in state rest areas and welcome centers.
