Miller Canfield has opened an office in Cleveland. Real estate attorney Nancy A. Valentine will lead the new office, which is a key piece in the firm’s strategic growth plan.
Valentine, who left Ice Miller to head Miller Canfield’s Cleveland office, is a nationally recognized attorney with extensive experience in litigation and transactional experience in bankruptcy, restructuring and insolvency, and commercial real estate finance, workouts and foreclosures. She has been named in Ohio Super Lawyers, Top 25: Women Cleveland Super Lawyers, Top 50: Cleveland Super Lawyers, U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Lawyers in America,” which in 2014 also named her Lawyer of the Year in Bankruptcy in Cleveland. She joined Miller Canfield in December 2017 and was named a principal in February.
“Nancy has a sterling reputation and is an exceptional attorney who shares our core values of excellence and world-class client service. She is a natural fit to lead our office in Ohio as we continue our expansion through the Midwest,” said CEO Michael McGee.
Valentine is joined by Miller Canfield principal attorneys James L. Allen, Todd A. Holleman, Amy M. Johnston, Scott R. Lesser and Christina J. Marshall, and associate John D. Moran.
Miller Canfield’s Cleveland office is the firm’s 16th location. Other locations include Detroit, where the firm is headquartered, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Troy, Michigan; Chicago; New York; Tampa, Florida; Shanghai, China; Gdynia, Warsaw and Wroclaw, Poland; and affiliated offices in Windsor, Canada and Monterrey, Mexico.
“Cleveland was the next logical market for our expansion strategy,” McGee said. “It strengthens our roots in the Great Lakes region and positions the firm to further serve the Midwest’s most important economic sectors—manufacturing, technology, healthcare and higher education—are industries where we have a wealth of experience and bench strength.”
Valentine is active in many civic and professional organizations and served the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation as chair of the Executive Board. She is a graduate of Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and Vanderbilt University. She is licensed in Ohio and will practice in Cleveland.
Miller Canfield’s Cleveland office’s temporary location is 1100 Superior Avenue E., Suite 1750, Cleveland, Ohio 44114.
