SEMCOG adopts Regional Transportation Plan
On Thursday, March 14, 2019, SEMCOG's General Assembly adopted the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan for Southeast Michigan. It serves as the region's guiding policy document for transportation investment, describing how more than $35 billion in revenues will be invested in 174 projects to support the region's transportation system through 2045. The plan also funds more than $9 billion in transit projects. It addresses the future of mobility and responds to many of the regional, state, and national trends such as an aging demographic, future technology, and funding shortfalls. Regional policies and actions outline strategies intended to improve the efficiency of the transportation network, strengthen economic prosperity, increase access and safety for all users, achieve a level of fiscal sustainability, create vibrant communities, and protect the natural environment. The plan includes regional transportation projects and investment priorities anticipated during the life of the plan.
