Webinars presented for district court probation officers

The Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) is offering two webinars for district court probation officers.

The “New District Court Probation Officers Webinar” will take place Wednesday, December 15, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

This webinar is for new probation officers—primarily those hired within the last two years and who have not previously attended the new probation officers seminar—and will focus on:

• Ethics, Confidentiality, the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) Manual for District Court Probation Officers, and the Role of the Probation Officer

• Due Process

• Understanding the Nature and Dynamics of Domestic Violence

• Michigan State Police – LEIN Overview

Presenting at the “New District Court Probation Officers Webinar” will be:

• Retired Judge Patrick Bowler, state judicial outreach liaison, Michigan Supreme Court

• Bobbi Morrow, management analyst, field services, State Court Administrative Office, Michigan Supreme Court

• Michele Muscat, management analyst, field services, State Court Administrative Office, Michigan Supreme Court

• Lore Rogers, staff attorney, Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Victim Services

The “All District Court Probation Officers Webinar” will take place Thursday, December 16, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

This webinar is for all district court probation officers and will include:

• Statutory, Court Rule, and Appellate Court Decisions Update

• Michigan Department of State – How to Read “The New” Driving Record

• Medication Assisted Treatment: Use and Effectiveness

• Motivational Interviewing

• Components of Offender Assessment
