Wayne Law alumni recognized in Crain’s 40 Under 40 for Detroit, Grand Rapids

Crain’s Detroit Business and Crain’s Grand Rapids Business have honored two Wayne Law alumni in their 2024 40 Under 40 Class, among five other Wayne State University honorees.

Crain's 40 Under 40 honors the exceptional achievements of young professionals across diverse industries and showcases dynamic leaders shaping their communities. The list has highlighted CEOs, founders, innovators and community champions for more than three decades.

Recognized in Crain’s Detroit is Wayne Law alumni Gino Roncelli, ’15, the 35-year-old CEO of Roncelli Inc. According to the article, Roncelli had humble beginnings “pushing a broom” as a laborer for the Roncelli family construction company at its LG Energy Solutions plant in Holland and later earned the role of general counsel before taking the family’s third-generation lead as CEO in January 2023.

Roncelli, Inc. manages construction projects in the automotive industry, as well as the health care sector, reporting $358 million in revenue in 2023. He highlights building in Detroit, along with doubling revenue, expanding the workforce, and increasing projects under construction while enhancing customer satisfaction, as his proudest career achievements to date.

As a Crain’s Grand Rapids honoree, 37-year old Brandon Davis, a Detroit native and 2010 graduate of Wayne Law, leads the Office of Oversight and Public Accountability in Grand Rapids, and most recently, serves as interim director of the Office of Equity and Engagement.

Davis focuses on advancing equity and reducing disparities through initiatives like the Clean Slate Expungement and Know Your Rights programs which provide individuals with job opportunities by having their criminal records expunged.

Davis serves as chair of the Michigan Community Corrections Board and he is also involved with the National Association for the Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement, among many other leadership roles. In the article, Davis emphasizes that focusing on the intersection of justice and economic empowerment is the work that he is most proud of, highlighting its positive impact on the social, economic, and professional lives of community members.

Crain’s 40 Under 40 honorees were nominated by their peers, colleagues, friends and family and selected by a team of Crain’s Detroit Business and Crain’s Grand Rapids Business editors.
