Attorney discusses ‘Navigating the ADA and PWFA’ May 20


Maddin Hauser continues its 2025 Breakfast Bites: Employment Law Series with “Accommodating Successfully: Navigating the ADA and PWFA” presented Tuesday, May 20, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in-person at One Towne Square, Fifth Floor, in Southfield, and online via Zoom.

Speaking at the online program will be Mariel G. Newhouse, an associate at the firm who focuses her practice on helping employers prevent and resolve costly and disruptive employment law claims. Newhouse worked in Maddin Hauser’s summer program before joining full-time as an associate. She earned her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.

Honors presented at JBAM awards ceremony, May 1



The Jewish Bar Association of Michigan (JBAM) will host its 2025 Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Somerset Inn, 2601 W. Big Beaver Rd. in Troy.

 During the event, the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Champion of Justice Award will be presented to Oakland County Circuit Court Judge David M. Cohen and the Avern Cohn Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to retired Judge James M. Alexander.

Also during the evening, the JBAM Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented to David Sachs, contributing editor at the Detroit Jewish News, and the Chutzpah Attorney Advocate Award will be presented to Mitchell Ribitwer and Jerome Sabbota of Ribitwer & Sabbota LLP.

The event includes one drink and strolling dinner. Kosher food also available.

Early bird registration (before May 1) is $50 for JBAM members and $65 for non-members. After May 1 is $60 for JBAM members and $75 for non-members. Judges can attend for free. To purchase tickets, visit www.jewishbar.org and click on “events.”

MCBA plans Spring Member Dinner


The Michigan Creditors Bar Association will host its Spring Member Dinner on Tuesday, May 6, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Red Run Golf Club, 2036 Rochester Rd. in Royal Oak.

The evening will include the board of directors elections, program, along with time to network and catch up with colleagues. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. followed by the program at 6:45 p.m.
