‘The Inside Story’

The Village Club in Bloomfield Hills hosted a book-signing event and discussion on May 6 for the “Grand Bargain: The Inside Story of Detroit’s Dramatic Journey from Bankruptcy to Rebirth.” The book was written by Gerald Rosen, former chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan who served as the principal judicial mediator of the Detroit bankruptcy case that began in July 2013. Rosen, now a mediator for the Detroit office of JAMS, was the principal architect of the “Grand Bargain” that helped save the Detroit Institute of Arts and preserved pensions for municipal retirees. In riveting fashion, his book tells the behind-the-scenes story of the largest municipal bankruptcy filing in the nation’s history and how it was resolved to help Detroit chart a brighter future. The book can be purchased by visiting GrandBargainBook.com.
