A preliminary exam for Jayden Armez Shazier was held before 41B Clinton Township District Court Judge Jacob Femminineo, Jr. on Friday and the judge determined there was enough evidence to move forward with a trial.
Shazier was remanded to jail with a $5 million dollar bond, his next court date will be on Aug. 5 in Macomb County Circuit Court.
On the morning of March 18, 2025, it is alleged that Shazier went to the apartment of his aunt, Monique Shazier.
The prosecutor’s office said the aunt was home that morning preparing for a therapy appointment for which she never appeared.
Later in the day, her sister and niece conducted a welfare check at Monique's apartment and found Monique deceased on the floor.
Prosecutor Peter Lucido said a substantial amount of circumstantial evidence allegedly places Jayden Shazier on the scene at the time of Monique’s death.
