Macomb County Office of Senior Services to host open house at GoldenBerry Adult Day Caring Center

The Macomb County Office of Senior Services will host an open house for caregivers and professionals at its GoldenBerry Adult Day Caring Center on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 3 -5 p.m. at 21885 Dunham Road, Entrance Door B in Clinton Township.

GoldenBerry is a state-of-the-art day program in Macomb County for individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia-related conditions.

The center offers respite care for those who are in need of assistance caring for their loved ones. The open house will feature tours of the facility along with appetizers and refreshments for attendees.

"We're very proud of the GoldenBerry adult day care facility and the staff who deliver compassionate care to the participants who spend time there," said Andrew Cox, Director and Health Officer of Macomb County Health and Community Services. "If anyone has considered adult day care for a family member or loved one, we encourage you to attend this open house."

“Caregiver stress can be overwhelming. Knowing that you have a safe place to send your loved one can be a great relief,” said Sheila Coté, Director, Macomb County Office of Senior Services. “Our center offers specialized services to individuals with complicated needs.”

GoldenBerry includes meals/snacks, activities, exercise, transportation, health monitoring, medication management, personal care, socialization, caregiver support, and much more. Staffing includes certified nursing assistants, registered nurse accessibility and a social worker. Flexible schedules are available.

Funding assistance for the program is available. Support can be provided through the Veterans Administration, AgeWays Nonprofit Senior Services, and private pay - which is less than the cost of home health care.

GoldenBerry is credentialed as a Montessori Inspired Lifestyle Program. Montessori Inspired Lifestyle® (MIL) is a person-centered approach to living that involves understanding a person’s capabilities and interests and developing activities and plans of care that match the individual with their environment. This approach leads to greater independence and maintenance of remaining abilities among people with cognitive and physical disabilities. It also emphasizes the key values of respect, dignity, and equality.
