Estranged husband arraigned on charge of first-degree murder change

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that a Utica man has been charged with First-Degree Premeditated Murder related to a stabbing incident that occurred at the Meijer gas station in Shelby Township.

It is alleged that on Sunday, Sept. 21, 25-year-old Sydney Emmanuel Davis Jr. beat and repeatedly stabbed Fatme Davis, his 23-year-old estranged wife, inside the Meijer gas station at 15031 Hall Road, Shelby Township.

Fatme Davis was transported to a local hospital where she died.

Authorities say Sydney Davis fled the scene and was later discovered in Armada Township with a severe laceration on his hand.

He was arrested and transported to a hospital for treatment.

The child of Fatme Davis and Sydney Davis was in his mother’s car at the gas station for a safe custody exchange.

The child is safe with his paternal grandmother.

Davis was arraigned Wednesday in 41A District Court in Shelby Township on a charge of first-degree murder.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Oct. 7.
