8th Annual Rosen Constitutional Law Speaker Series to take place Nov. 10
Wayne State University Law School will host the 8th Annual Paul A. Rosen Constitutional Law Speaker Series, “Captain’s Dinner: A Shipwreck, an Act of Cannibalism, and a Murder Trial that Changed Legal History,” on Monday, November 10, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. at Wayne Law’s Partrich Auditorium, 471 W. Palmer Ave. in Detroit.
This year’s special guest speaker will be Adam Cohen, American journalist, author, lawyer, and former assistant editorial page editor and senior writer of The New York Times.

The Paul A. Rosen Constitutional Law Speaker Series Endowment was established in 2017 by Bernard Mindell, Wayne State University Law School class of 1964; Barry Waldman, Wayne Law class of 1969; and Bob Garvey, a trial attorney in St. Clair Shores, to commemorate their friend Paul A. Rosen’s passion for constitutional law. The series exposes students, staff, and members of the greater university community to dynamic speakers who are experts in the field of constitutional law.

Panel to discuss Detroit’s Grand Bargain, Oct. 30
The Eastern District of Michigan Bar Association will host “The Legacy of the Grand Bargain – a Joint Bankruptcy Committee and Book Club Event” on Thursday, October 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.The event will feature author retired Judge Gerald Rosen and a look at the historic Grand Bargain, specifically what was the Grand Bargain, and what was its short and long term impact on not only the City of Detroit, but on the practice of bankruptcy. The panel discussion will explore with those who were actually “in the room where it happened” when and how the Grand Bargain occurred, where Detroit is now, and where it is going.
Panel speakers include:
• Retired Judge Gerald E. Rosen – chief judicial mediator, JAMS
• Kevin Johnson – president & CEO, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation
• U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Mark Randon, Eastern District of Michigan
In person entrance fee includes lunch sponsored by JAMS and a post-event book signing by Rosen, author of the book “Grand Bargain.”
