‘Trial Etiquette Panel’ offered Feb. 5 in Detroit


The National Arab American Bar Association, Michigan Chapter, will conduct a “Trial Etiquette Panel” on Thursday, February 5, beginning at 5:30 at the Detroit offices of Dykema, 777 Woodward Ave, Ste 400, in Detroit.

The program will focus on courtroom professionalism, advocacy best practices, and real-world insights from experienced litigators. This panel will explore expectations inside the courtroom, effective communication with judges, opposing counsel, and juries, and the subtle professional considerations that can meaningfully impact trial outcomes.

This program is designed for attorneys at all stages of practice, as well as law students seeking a better understanding of courtroom norms and professional presence.

SBM’s 2026 Pro Bono Honor Roll applications now available; deadline to submit is May 15


The State Bar of Michigan’s 2026 Pro Bono Honor Roll Application and Pro Bono Service Reporting Survey are now available for individual attorneys, solo practitioners, law firms, and corporations. The deadline for submission is May 15.

The Pro Bono Honor Roll recognizes those who support access-to-justice efforts by providing qualifying pro bono legal services to low-income individuals and families in Michigan. The 2026 Pro Bono Honor Roll will recognize pro bono services performed during the 2025 calendar year.

Individual attorneys and firms have the option of remaining anonymous, but are still encouraged to report their qualifying pro bono service to the State Bar of Michigan by completing the appropriate application:

In Michigan, pro bono service has become a well-established tradition among members of the legal profession. The 2025 Pro Bono Honor Roll recognized more than 800 Michigan-licensed attorneys who reported more than 34,500 hours of pro bono legal services in 2024.
