Webinar looks into ‘Incorporating the Youth Voice in Court Proceedings’ Oct. 14

The Michigan Judicial Institute  will present the webinar “Lessons from the Bench: Incorporating the Youth Voice in Court Proceedings” on Wednesday, October 14, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

State and federal law requires the court to consult with each child on their permanency plan. Youth, 11 years of age or older, are entitled to written notice of court hearings. Despite these legal requirements, many youth are not given the opportunity to meaningfully engage with the court. This webinar will provide strategies and tools for increasing youth voice and discuss the challenges to implementing such tools.

This webinar is eligible for continuing judicial education (CJE) credit 1.0 [Judicial Practice & Related Areas]

To register for the webinar, visit https://mjieducation.mi.gov and scroll down to “Upcoming MJI Events.”
