The election marks another milestone in Stewart’s longstanding involvement with AIPLA and his service to the intellectual property profession. His AIPLA leadership has included serving as Chair of the PCT Issues Committee, co-chairing the Association’s inaugural Leadership Forum in 2025, and previously chairing its Public Education Committee and IP Law Associations Committee. He has also represented AIPLA in proceedings of the Patent Cooperation Treaty Working Group in Geneva.
Stewart has received multiple recognitions from AIPLA for his contributions to the Association and the profession. In 2025, he received his second AIPLA Project Award for the inaugural Leadership Forum, which he co-chaired with Stephanie Bald, and was among the recipients of AIPLA’s 2025 Pro Bono Award recognizing contributions to the USPTO Pro Bono Program. He was named AIPLA’s 2024 Mentor of the Year in recognition of his commitment to mentoring and professional development. Stewart expressed deep satisfaction with his long-term association with AIPLA.
“I have received more from my involvement with AIPLA than I could ever hope to give back. The relationships, opportunities to learn from extraordinary professionals, and the chance to help develop the next generation of practitioners have been enormously rewarding,” Stewart said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to continue that service as a member of the board, and to help AIPLA strengthen the intellectual property system and the profession it serves.”
Stewart is an internationally recognized intellectual property attorney and strategic adviser whose practice combines legal, technical and business experience. He counsels senior executives and innovation leaders on intellectual property strategy and handles matters involving patents, trademarks, IP litigation, technology agreements and global intellectual property portfolios. He is a frequent author and speaker on intellectual property protection and enforcement.
