The U.S. District Court, the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and the Wolverine Bar Association are jointly hosting a Law Day open house on Monday, May 1.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Theodore Levin U.S. District Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette in Detroit.
The theme of Law Day 2017 is “The 14th Amendment/Transforming American Democracy.”
The complimentary program is open to the public and includes an “Ask the Lawyer” pro bono component; courthouse tours; free hotdogs, chips, and cookies; and agency displays and handouts.
Several agencies are participating in Law Day including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Coast Guard; Consumer Bankruptcy Association; Court Historical Society; Drug Enforcement Agency; FBI; Federal Defenders Office; Immigration and Customs Enforcement; IRS; U.S. Attorney’s Office; U.S. District Court; U.S. Probation Department; U.S. Pretrial Services Agency; the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department; and more.
