A panel discussion on the statewide ballot proposal seeking the legalization of marijuana will take place next Monday, Oct. 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Life Church Annex, 6900 N. Haggerty Road, Canton.
The program, presented by Families Against Narcotics, will be moderated by State Court Administrator Milton Mack, former chief judge of the Wayne County Probate Court.
“Should marijuana be legalized for recreational use in Michigan? This controversial question will be put before the voters in November,” said Lauren Rousseau, professor of law at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. “Come learn the facts and arguments on both sides of the debate.
Speakers include experts from Healthy & Productive Michigan, the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, physician and
treatment professionals, and a person in long-term recovery,” said Rousseau, who serves on the board of Families Against Narcotics.
Among the panelists: Luke Niforatos, chief of staff and senior policy adviser at Safe Approaches to Marijuana; Robin Schneider, adviser and finance director at Michigan Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol and Dr. William Morrone, pain specialist affiliated with multiple Michigan hospitals and author of “American Narcan”.
Other members of the panel are Dr. Sue Sisley, psychiatrist, marijuana researcher, and former clinical professor at Arizona College of Medicine; and Scott Masi, outreach specialist at Brighton Center for Recovery and a person in long-term recovery from addiction.
