Firm steps up to MSU College of Law Challenge
Attorneys have an obligation to invest in the legal industry to ensure quality lawyers continue to emerge from the nation's law schools. In the fall of 2010, Michigan State University College of Law approached Fraser Trebilcock with the challenge of raising money for a variety of programs at the law school from all of the alumni at the firm.
The Law Firm Challenge is a program implemented by MSU Law to raise philanthropic support for the many programs and opportunities the College offers. It engages alumni at top law firms across the country to help raise critical funds for student scholarships, endowment, clinical programs, Law Review, moot court and trial advocacy to name a few, and to create stability for the College's many other programs and student organizations.
"The goal is to have 100 percent participation from each alumnus at participating law firms," said Brian Davis, associate director of Alumni Engagement.
Fraser Trebilcock stepped up to the challenge and received contributions from 100 percent of its lawyers who graduated from Michigan State University College of Law or its predecessor, the Detroit College of Law.
"We are fortunate to have alumni who invest not only in the legal industry but who take the time to ensure that the incoming lawyers we train are prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow," said Dean Joan Howarth.
"As attorneys, we have a vested interest in ensuring students wanting to join our profession, have the opportunity to do so and we are proud to partner with MSU College of Law to make that happen," said Thaddeus Morgan, president of Fraser Trebilcock.
