Town Hall meeting to educate citizens about new welfare reform
Oakland County Commissioners Janet Jackson, Nancy Quarles and Helaine Zack have joined with the City of Southfield, the City of Southfield Human Services Department and Lighthouse of Oakland County to sponsor an informative Town Hall meeting.
The Town Hall meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Southfield Public Library, located at 26300 Evergreen Road. The meeting will be in the meeting room and auditorium in the Southfield Public Library.
At the Town Hall meeting, a series of issues will be discussed surrounding the new Michigan State Welfare Reform Laws. Resources will be available with many human service agencies in attendance to aid those and inform those in need.
Organizations participating in this free town hall workshop include the Southfield Career Center/ Michigan Works, Lighthouse Community Development (HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency), City of Southfield Treasurer Irv Lowenberg, Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc., Department of Human Services, DTE, Consumer's Energy and United Way 2111.
