Postal worker guilty in Mich. corruption probe
DETROIT (AP) -- A U.S. Postal Service employee has changed his mind and pleaded guilty to taking bribes from a contractor who fixed mail vehicles in southeastern Michigan.
Denny Robinson had planned to go to trial Monday but instead made a deal with prosecutors. He was accused of accepting $75,000 in cash, cars and free vehicle service in exchange for steering postal trucks and trailers to Metro Diesel, a Detroit garage.
Robinson's guilty plea means there will be no testimony from the star witness, garage owner Joe Fawaz. He paid bribes to postal employees for years before helping investigators in 2010. Fawaz has not been charged and his cooperation helped his wife get a light sentence in an unrelated case.
Robinson's guilty plea is the third in the case.
