New staff writer joins Legal News family
Steve Thorpe, who has spent more than 30 years in the newspaper and communications fields, has joined the staff of Detroit Legal News Publishing LLC as a writer and photographer.
In his new role, Thorpe will be responsible for covering the greater Detroit legal community, including the various bar associations along with city, county, and federal courts, according to Suzanne Favale, publisher of The Legal News.
A resident of Huntington Woods, Thorpe began his newspaper career as a staff photographer for The Detroit News, eventually becoming deputy photo editor of the daily. He joined The Ann Arbor News in 1987 as director of photography, a post he held for six years until he was named deputy feature editor and then science editor for the paper. Over the past eight years, Thorpe has served as editor of the Chrysler Media Site.
An aircraft pilot for 30 years, Thorpe attended Wayne State University, where he majored in anthropology.
