Association of Litigation Support Professionals welcoming new members
There are multiple ways to get involved in the legal community. Creating and maintaining a network of peers not only for support but also to engage as resources to grow within an organization is a key contributor to ultimate career success.
Beth Niepokuj, president of the largest and fastest growing association for litigation support professionals--ALSP Eastern Michigan Chapter--recently stated "Not only have I personally gained invaluable experiences from being involved with the Association of Litigation Support Professionals, but feel it has been a main contributor to my success at my current law firm."
Individuals from almost every firm and legal department across the country are involved in one (if not multiple) associations/societies. Those involved typically become the leaders of the industry--first to know the latest trends/industry updates, first to adjust, and first to incorporate those findings into their own role responsibility schedule.
"Having the ability to recognize change occurs and embracing that change is the first step to finding success in your own career," said Abby Melling, also a board member of the ALSP. "The challenge is finding out without the influence of additional members of the legal community; making networking and being involved in legal associations so important. It's a key factor to my and others' ability to remain successful during a recession and its afterbirth."
The ALSP would like to invite anyone to take the opportunity to learn the advantages of becoming a member. Membership benefits include: "Lunch & Learn"--bring a guest to the round table luncheon; "E-Discovery Bingo"; and multiple educational and social networking opportunities (including a day of education and a bar crawl).
Prospective members can register at https://alsponline.site-ym.com/general/register_member_type.asp.
All new and renewal registrations as of Wednesday, Feb. 15, will be entered into a drawing sponsored by the Michigan Eastern Chapter.
One lucky member will win the $325 registration fee for the National Conference New Orleans 3/12/2012-3/13/2012. (Hotel/Flight is not included)
Anyone with questions regarding ALSP membership may contact Membership Chair Suzanne Alfastsen at 248-952-0539 or alfassy@kellylawregistry.com.
